What is classed as personal data?
Personal data in a broad sense is any information that could be used to identify you (such as your name, date of birth, email address, IP address, etc). Often, a single piece of information isn’t enough to identify you but using multiple pieces of personal information could be used to identify you directly.
What personal data we collect and why
We try and limit any personal data we collect to a minimum and aim to only keep this information as long as we feel is necessary. There are some instances where we are legally obliged to keep your information for a determined period of time (for invoices as an example).
Examples of personal information we typically collect when we do work for you:
- Company or place of business (if applicable)
- Addresses (location for the work to be carried out or address for invoicing)
- Telephone number (if you request us to call you)
- Email addresses (if you request us to email you)
Examples of personal information we collect when you use our website:
- Name (via our contact form)
- Email address (via our contact form)
- Contact number (via our contact form)
- Any information you disclose in the form
Cookies are files with a small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your computer’s hard drive. We use “cookies” to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.
We collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our website (“Log Data”). This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our website that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other statistics.
How long do we retain your data?
If you leave a comment on our site, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
We keep any email correspondence for 24 months by default (including contact form entries), and any invoices/information relating to invoices for at least six years.
What rights do you have over your data?
You can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you at any time. This does not include any data that we are legally required to keep for legal or security purposes.
